Its a great start Hypno ref the balance in the loan clearing fund.
Just back from getting school shoes for DS1 and was shocked to find that DD needed school shoes as well so £60 later
. I'm going to try and absorb this in the budget account since I've not paid After school fees this month and although I've not had my childminder bill for the 3 days she did for me I can take that from Sept's pot...it makes sense to me.
Weekend was good thanks Amy. Got lots sorted and got my head straight ref focusing on getting money in the account to pay the loan off.
Just realised I've another £30 in a savings account which can get transfer to the pot Signature update coming! How was your weekend?Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

I know its such a lot...
My DD starts at secondary school next week so its a complete new uniform...wasn't expected the shoes though. Unfortunately as we were coming home I'm thinking not only shoes, but trainers etc....
My DS1 has needed a few bits and will need some trousers but he can wait a month or so for them. My DS2 starts in Jan so he'll be needed shoes, shirts and a school jumper and tie everything else has been passed down:D
This is where I struggle with my £15pm clothes budget. OH and I don't buy anything. I'm got a huge wardrobe of relatively new stuff that doesn't fit ....another story there. OH does need some essentials so I'm going to have to find some cash for these.....
Perhaps at the end of the year when the rush of school stuff has gone I've review the budget for clothes. Since before things just got put on CC my lovely spending diary can show me what we are actually spending and we can adjust the budget accordingly......
I'm sure I need to get out more :rotfl:Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

Just done the budget review strike while the iron is hot!
This year I've spent £388 on clothes all of which have been school/activity clothes/shoes/trainers bar a few bits for holiday and all for the kids. All essentials really. I've been given a few bags of bits from friends which have helped. No expensive things though like coats...
Therefore my budget based on this needs to be at least £50 pm.........and its only £15.
.........need to think on that one?!
Any suggestions welcome  . Am I being too unrealistic?Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
I don't think you are being unrealistic at all - especially when it includes school uniforms and stuff. I know plenty of mums who spend that much each month on clothes for their kids :mad:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Question for WorkingHardDFW
Is your Food shopping done at one of those expensive supermarkets, such as waitrose and tesco?
while not consider doing your shopping at Lido supermarket or at a local street market. You will save a lot of money.0 -
Thanks for the advice magneto.
I used to be a real Tesco devotee but since my LBM I'm converted and whilst I still like and shop at Tesco for the big shop I now use Lidl/Aldi and Asda if I can to shop around.
I do like the Clubcard points from Tesco which have helped us have some great days out which we otherwise wouldn't be able to afford. At the same time I know that similar products from L&A are much cheaper and just the same.Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0
