  • I guess its just that it all comes in one batch. £50 on DD's uniform for her new school in June and another £30 on other bits today. Why is ut kids always grow out of shoes at the same time. I've yet to get my DS1 his school shoes (the others had to be thrown at when he broke up for the summer holidays).

The days been good apart from that. At least its one job off the list and its nearly all done now.

How is your debt busting going?

  • Thats so frustrating.

We got turned down for another cc last year due to the size of our debt and I am so glad we did since it made us wake up and smell the roses:p . Since then I've not applied for any CC and really don't want to since I'd hate to get turned down again (our debt it still hefty). Therefore we are having to manage with the cards we've got and shift the debt around a bit which I've done a couple of times. This means none of it is a 0% but we can live with that for a while I guess.

I guess I'm saying do you have the opportunity to move your debt around to get better rates rather than add another debt to your list?

  • Update:

Fantastic news today. I referred a friend to my DS's nursery and since her daughter starts next month I get £50 off my nursery bill :D:D . I won't see the money until my DS2 finished nursery in December since I pay in childcare vouchers and therefore they'll just keep the surplus until he finishes. I must organise myself for the vouchers to finish in November so I don't lose any money. Great though and not to be sniffed at!

Day off work tomorrow so I am taking the kids on a big day out courtesy of Tesco Clubcard vouchers. So spending will be minimal, petrol  and maybe a treat although I am taking the inlaws and getting their tickets so they may run to a treat whilst we are out  . Should be nice though and the weather is looking better for tomorrow.

Last two days have been spent at work so virtually nothing spent there. Always good.

Signed up for a couple of new mystery shopping sites last night as well as updating my profile on the couple I do use. Hopefully that will bring in a few more pennies in the next couple of months.

After reading Hypno's post I reviewed how I am tracking our debts month on month. I've used the snowball but it doesn't give me a true picture since I know at aleast two points next year our income will jump considerably. Therefore I had devised a great spreadsheet which tracked every debt month by month (it does nothing clever with interest payments though). This I determined was far too complicated therefore I brought it down to a monthy track of the total debt against what we are paying off in real terms each month.

With this new forecast and taking into account the increased budget for kids activities etc our DF date has moved back by three months to Feb 2010. However to still be DF by November 2009 which is what we are aiming for we need to find between now and then £6500. Again I've not factored in the reducing interest on this. This to my mind is a very tough challenge nearly an extra £400 per month over and above what we are already paying. But us DFW are nothing if not determined so eyes down and lets get moving.....

Because when you owe in the region of £50k, life just ain't that easy!

Anyway.....back to the previous missive you wrote.....I think that finding that extra £400 a month is difficult, but it is doable - do the £10 a day challenge for starters - that is £300 of it done right away!!

  • I know that is a concern but we've got to try.

    Options for the extra income:
    • work a couple of extra days pm if I can to bring in the dosh
    • sell anything and everything that is no longer needed. DD1 and DS2 are going to my in laws next week so I intend to clear out their rooms of highly saleable toys/clothes (junk!)
    • Sort through out vast CD collection and sell where appropriate
    • Sort through more books to sell and try selling on amazon
    • try matched betting and see what that generates - i'm a bit wary of this one but i guess I need to try it. I've read through it a few times but need to have another couple of goes.
    • Mystery shop a bit more - doesn't make loads of money but it certainly helps
Feel bad that I've not listed anything on ebay this week but I guess I was lacking a bit of motivation. Need to make a concerted effort to list what is already piled up in my dining room before next weeks clear out.

Focus and drive I need those both - can you pass some of your along Hypno?:o
