Claim tax relief on mileage
I travel to a temporary place of work and have paid enough tax
On the assumption that my claim dating back to 2014 is knocked back requesting evidence i have...
Timesheets detailing my place of work
Shift roster
Payslips
I wasnt aware untill recently i could claim.
Would this be enough proof for my claim?
Will it be knocked back as i dont have a record of my fuel receipts?
If they do ask for evidence will they ask for everything or a sample as its unsurprisingly quite a lot of paperwork
Thanks
If this is in the wrong location i appologise im new :rotfl:

Probably best in the cutting tax section.
It's not about having fuel receipts, it's showing you did the mileage claimed as your claim is based on the business miles travelled.
However my first question if I was HMRC would be how can it be a temporay workplace if you have been working there since 2014?0 -
Work for an agency that sends me out to different hospitals hence.the temporary place of work0

If you work for an agency then every individual assignment is considered a permanent place of employment by HMRC. Only exception would be if you are travelling between hospitals on the same day then that travel between hospitals could be claimed.0

Just like BoGof said, you need proof of the mileage. Without your receipts, you can make no claim - as employees can only claim the fuel part of the business journey.
Saying that it is the responsibility of both the business and employee to keep track of their miles and report them accurately. Does your agency have any proof? Maybe you can talk to them to see if there is any middle ground.0 -

Yeah, agency worker here who can sometimes be five different places in the same week. Not been able to use that for some time to claim mileage. You will find your contract with the agency states that you are only an employee of the agency whilst you are on a contract with them which then doesn't make the place of work temporary as it is your only place of work.
Then there is HMRC guidance which excludes you. Whilst it specifies travelling salespeople in the example it applies equally to agency workers for similar reasons - as an agency worker you would be expected to cover a certain geographical area.
"There are some forms of employment where you may be expected to undertake a certain amount of travel in the usual course of your work. For example, if you work as a sales representative for a fashion line, you might need to travel to a number of different retailers to attend sales appointments. Travel from your home to these locations may be regarded as business mileage. However, in most cases, travelling salespeople are responsible for covering a particular geographical area. If your home is located within this area, appointments attended within this patch may not qualify but anything in a different region would be eligible. If you have to travel to your area of work before visiting clients, this part of the journey would be regarded as your regular commute."
As an aside are you aware that because you don't have a single place of work you need business use on your car insurance because commuting doesn't cover you?0
