Hi Guys
Thanks for all the replies.
To clear up a few things - I have wired plenty of lights, ceiling fans and general electronics, my dad was crazy about that kind of stuff and passed a good knowledge of it down to me. I wouldn't be touching anything gas related, my boilers electrics are in a totally seperate section of the boiler to the gas. And the thermostat itself is completely wireless, but seems to be 'permanently' screwed into the brick/plaster of the stairwell for some reason, or I'd just move it myself and everyones happy as Larry.
I think I'm going to message my landlord directly (I hate the agents, and it seems like they do to) and ask if I can install a new one, and cover the costs etc. This is just really to make it easier for everyone and get it done asap, the landlord has been really accommodating, and I dont mind paying, since I can see myself staying here until I buy (if I don't get kicked out for some odd reason). And I wouldn't mind leaving the equipment here either, if it was a smart thermostat that I go with. Plus if I arrange it myself, it will probably happen way faster than if I leave it to someone else.
Again, super appreciate the replies!0
