How to unlock a word file as need to edit it

I wish to work on word file as a need to update the information am using it on office 365 I have access to but not able to type anything on it

    Is the file write protected?

    Right click the file choose properties is it read only?

    or in Word File, info, Protect Document ?

    If you are unable to change read only status? You should be able to copy and store it as another name to enable editing without password protection.
