Boiler service

Options
My Worcester Bosch boiler (12 years old and still going) needs its annual service. Has anyone used IGas? How much would you expect to pay for a service in outer London?

Thank you in advance.

Why does it need a "service" at 12 years old ?

Does it not work properly ?

You do realise an annual service helps to keep it going from year to year? You don't wait until it breaks down, you prevent it from breaking down in the first place.

The older the boiler the more important the service. The seals dry up ad crack, the fan dries up and grinds carbon builds up on the burner, etc.

These all need attention, just because it works doesn't mean it works efficiently. It's called preventive maintenance.
  • 1. The OP stated that the boiler required its annual service, and that it had been running for 12 years, not that it was getting serviced after 12 years.
    2. I don't know anything about IGas. Presumably you mean IGas Plumbing and Heating in Catford.
    3. I normally pay around £80 plus VAT (each), but this is for servicing 3 boilers in a single day and doing the gas safety certificates as well. Costs more if parts needed or takes longer than about 45 minutes, but does involve taking the covers off and cleaning burners etc.

Also I have home emergency cover but it only covers boilers which have been serviced.
