This is why you should always use a credit card for expensive items. Save your debit card for grocery shopping.
  • It's a fair point about a credit card.

I have received a glimmer of hope via one of the three avenues I've been pursuing. I'm going back into store tomorrow, will report back.

If you go in with the understanding you aren't entitled to anything, then any form of resolution is a bonus and hopefully the lesson will have taught you something.

He absolutely is entitled to something, as the phone is clearly faulty, so resolution isn't a bonus, but it may not be the refund that the OP wants.

Yes, I agree, I didn't word that well.

What I am saying is that this isn't a consumer purchase and as such he would need to see what rights he has under B2B. If he goes in as a consumer, then a resolution is a bonus.
  • I just happened to use my business card
That sounds very much like a business purchase though . .

Just ensure it's a personal card, without a business name on it!
  • All sorted. In the end both Resolver and a prolonged Facebook chat both delivered info I could take into store to show I was entitled to a refund.

    Lesson learned:

    - Use a credit card!
    - Know your rights and don't let store policy dictate otherwise.
    - Don't listen to the nay sayers on forums. Opinions aren't facts!
