I have used care agencies and now directly employ my own pa/carers.

If the nurses come from an agency a quick call to check the policy is worthwhile or a flick through the contract. There are often rules in place but these in y experience were interpretted reasonably.

I am not a fan of gifting alcohol.. are you sure the nurses drink?

This year as I employ my own team and can choose what to do. I have a homemade card which i will write.. they know my writing is shoddy and i don't usually bother, and then a small token gift that links to something they have shared/mentioned.. daft socks, nice choccies, gloves etc

I honestly think as long as you don't spend silly money it will be fine. If you want to spend a substantial amount get approval first and if you are 'sound of mind' they will likely say yes.

A Registered Nurse whether working in the NHS or the private sector abide by The Code https://www.nmc.org.uk/standards/code/read-the-code-online/ laid down by the NMC and we are advised to refuse all but the most trivial gifts https://www.nmc.org.uk/news/news-and-updates/conflicts-of-interest-joint-statement/

Carers are not bound by The Code though may have to follow local policy and guidelines.
