final meter reading delay with validation process
Options
Hi - Can somebody update me on this. I switched from Eon to Yorkshire Energy at the end of September. I gave my meter readings which then had to go through the validation process... Still waiting... I've had an estimated final bill from Eon back in October which I'm sure I still have more money to be refunded. YE have sent three emails to chase up the validation and yet I'm still waiting... Has anyone lese gone through or going through this same delay... I've swapped providers many times and never seemed to wait this long for my final readings to be checked. Can anyone help with the speeding up of things like Ofgem ?

Also - My Meter is and was a smart meter. So EON had access to all correct readings... Can / should this still delay things being finalised....0

The gaining supplier manages everything to do with a transfer of supply. The meter readings that you provided are passed on to an industry partner for validation. I would raise a complaint against Yorkshire Energy. Validation takes up to 14 days (worst case). Ofgem does not investigate complaints from consumers: you have to follow the supplier's procedure. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hello cazacs16 and we spoke about your switch earlier on another thread. Did you ask for an Agreed Reads Dispute (ARD) to be raised as discussed in this other thread as below?
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/75026424#Comment_75026424
If you did, an ARD can take up to 28 working days to sort. Once done, we'll re-bill to the new readings so our closing readings match your new supplier's opening readings. Any resulting credit balance will be refunded within 5 working days of the new bill provided there's a live Direct Debit on the account. If not, we'll send a cheque within 10 working days of the new bill being raised.
Should a debit balance be left, we'll collect this through a live Direct Debit about two weeks after the bill. The collection date will be shown on the front page of the final bill. Without a live Direct Debit, we'll let you know how to pay.
Once the switch away was started, we'll have lost all control of the meter. As Hengus says, the gaining supplier takes over and manages the transfer. This includes giving us their opening meter readings, after validation, so we can use them to close our account. We're unable to use readings from any other source.
Sorry to lose you cazacs16.
