Issue with installing canopy kitchen hood

Hi all,
I am in the midst of revamping my kitchen and I have ordered a new canopy kitchen hood to replace my old one.
The old hood have 4 exhaust vent attached to it and my builder is saying that my new hood have only 1 vent outlet and refused to install it citing regulation issues. He wants a written permission from the building management that he can install it free of any legal liability in case of any issues from the installation, but when I spoke to them, they say that many people have done it without issue and the builder does not need any written permission.
I have looked online and I am unable to find any similar issues or even canopy hood that have 4 vents like the existing one. Is this a valid problem or just that the builder is simply inexperienced?
Thank you!

I suspect the builder is too tight or idle to obtain and fit the requisite ducting, and it's nothing to do with the management co.
A cooker hood would only use one of four outlets. (Not four at once.)0 -
Thanks, I suspect as much as it did not make any sense that replacing the hood can be so complicated. It should be a straight forward job.
I will have a chat with the builder and if he is still uncomfortable doing it I will just get someone else to do it.
Thanks!0 -
Gotta be honest - I've NEVER heard of a domestic extractor hood with any more than ONE exhaust vents and certainly never come across, removed or fitted one!
Can you give make and model? Intrigued to know!
Cheers

The make is villavent but I am not sure of the model, I can take a closer look when I get home today.0 -

Is this what you are talking about? Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0 -
Oh, well that's not a normal cooker hood. It's a heat recovery system. Presumably those other pipes lead to bathrooms.
You should not replace that with a normal cooker hood, or you won't have your bathrooms ventillated. Can you not build the new kitchen round the existing Villavent unit?0 -
Are you sure it's not doing some sort of heat recovery, hence the multiple vents? Doesn't look like a standard cooker hood to me.0

Well, that answers why the builder was hesitant to do it then. He did say that it is a special type of hood but did not explain what it is and why he is not able to install the hood.
Now that I understand the implication, I guess it is best to leave out the unit for now.
The reason why I wanted to change it in the first place is that the unit seems quite old and doesn't really work that well ventilating the kitchen. What option do I have if I want to change it, or if it stop working in the future?
Appreciates all the replies so far, they are super helpful0 -
A quick search suggest that I have very little choice as I will have to get a hood without fan and it have to be compatible with the air handling unit since it will be handling all the air extraction.
Good news is now I know there is a system that provides ventilation in my apartment!
Thank you all for the help.0
