If I had a choice I would never visit Liverpool or Birmingham . My cough is bad enough as it is .

salt air on the west coast . good for coughs . many people sent to the north west to recover and recuperate from TB . sent from the countryside aswell as the smokey towns . used to be more open air public bathing pools per head on the wirral than anywhere else in the world .

In my opinion, there's more to see and do in Liverpool. Albert Docks, Beatles stuff, parks, cathedrals, pubs. Also town centre is nice and not TOO overdeveloped.

Birmingham has some nice spots too, but the town centre is just a big shopping mall. The old town and its history has been trashed.

Thought this was going to be about an upcoming football cup game..

I would personally recommend Liverpool over Birmingham. Alternatively, Newcastle is a fabulous city as well and the people are like a mix between Liverpudlians and Scottish.
