Windows XP: Built-in Administrator account/profile damaged/corrupt

    Organisation setups are different to home setups, if you're on a domain then yes Windows will recreate it locally. But on a home network, all the details are there on the machine in question so if they go walkies Windows can't recover. In an organisation where the key material lives on a server somewhere else typically in another building altogether, it can (and is probably set up to do so).

    But anyway we're drifting off the point, the key principle is that the user account is stuffed (the normally-never-used Administrator account) and there's only really two or three ways out of it, all of which have been discussed in the thread.
