Q. When is an offer not an offer?
A. When you get overcharged
I recently had a short break with Macdonald Hotel, winderemere and have been left very confused about the dinner offer, see below. I assumed that we would get £30.00 per person allocated for an evening meal.
Allocation Meaning to give something to someone as their share of a total amount, to use in a particular way:
When we got to the hotel the staff said we can choose 3 courses from the set menu and that the £30.. allocation would cover the meal except for the items indicated.
Upon check out we were charged £64.50 and not given the £30.00 per person allocation.
I asked for clarification of the menu and was sent a set menu and a classic menu.
Please can you help

I am contacting you today with regards to your stay with us at the Macdonald Old England Hotel and spa on the 28th of November.
We are currently running an offer for dinners in the evenings for selected guests. For £30.00 per person per evening you can enjoy a £30 per person allocation towards the a la carte menu in our 2 AA rosette award wining Lake Side Grill Restaurant. Our restaurant has a carefully selected menu offering modern fine-dining using only the freshest of ingredients and locally known as ‘the restaurant on the lake”, we have one of the most impressive views across the water and surrounding fells. For a limited time, you will also receive a complimentary glass of house wine per person when you prebook your evening meal!

Thank you for your call today, it was lovely speaking with you. As discussed I have added on the dinner package which is £30 per person. With this you will receive an allocation of £30 per person to spend on the a la carte menu and a complimentary glass of house wine. This is payable at the hotel.
