How do you get them to credit money back quicker !

Hello,

I hope this is in the right spot.

I wanted to get Sky broadband and phone for which they charge a £30 activation fee and which was paid using a credit card.

Long story short we can't get the services in our area yet and I'm waiting for Sky to transfer the activation fee back.

Now, without going to my credit card company and moaning, how much time should it take for them to recredit my card back. Seeming as it took all of a nanosecond for them to take the cash, I'd expect it to come back equally as quick as it's costing me in interest.

And speaking of which, can you charge any company interest for sitting on your cash for a service you haven't received ? and if not........why not ?!

Thanks in advance,

daddyswede

p.s. I know we shouldn't be buying on credit cards but they're an unnessecary evil !

In this case that'd be the credit card company's money (unless you have since paid the bill?) But in that case you'd be better off asking for a cheque or something which is paid directly to you. There's no general right to interest as I undertstand it (unless you have gone through a small claims proceducure and company hasn't paid up and more than something like six weeks have passed since a decision in your favour) so you're better off just asking them for a goodwill payment £5 or £10 because you are now having to chase them for the money....

  • Thanks Milarky,

Just as well we're nearing the season of goodwill !

I understand that it'd be the credit card company's money to begin with, but that still doesn't stop me from having to pay interest on "purchases" and I think it only reasonable to ask for that back.

    Thanks for the advice.
