Credit card issuer liability

I recently purchased 2 squash racquets on my Egg Money card. Do I have any purchase protection from Egg in this case - each racquet was £65 but the total transaction value was £130. Does the £100 limit apply to the individual items or to the transaction ?

It is the total transaction.
Not quite sure what you mean by purchase protection though. Can you please provide more details on what you think you are covered?
All credit cards issued in the UK provide cover under The consumer credit act.0 -
I've had one racquet break (not through abuse) which after a little haggling the retailer has reluctantly replaced. If I get another breakage, it's likely that I would want to reject both racquets as being unfit for purpose. Of course the retailer would be my first stop in such a case but I was wondering whether I would potentially have any claim against the CC company0

I believe that you would but after you have had the goods for 28 days I think you also have to give the retailer the chance to repair (if possible) the item.0

Iirc in a case where goods are not fit for the purpose intended, the customer can request a refund. Alternatively, they could request a replacement but that is up to the customer not the retailer.0
