Although faster payments are usually completed almost immediately, they can sometimes take longer. I know you are frustrated, but it might be worth waiting until Monday morning before chasing anything up.

Some further information which may be helpful found here:

I'm now being told by yet another supervisor that they don't know why it's not in my account and they don't know where it is.

did you read post #2, and especially the link provided?
It will help you to understand how the Faster Payments system works rather than continue your [STRIKE]rant[/STRIKE] saga (TL;DR).
Agents in call centres, especially ebay & paypal, just want to get you off the line as fast as possible, they won't know about the workings of the FP system so you need to take whatever they say with a large pinch of salt.
FWIW I did a paypal transfer the other day which took all of 5 minutes to appear in my bank.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

You seem to don't know how it is to sell on ebay and get paid via paypal. Your money can be hold a number of good days and phoning them and looking desperate for them isn't good for your mental health. I had sometimes money hold for more than two weeks and I never sent an email/complain. I still have to receive £181 for a parcel sent this monday (get paid last sunday) and i.m not worried at all. It happen before to get my money delayed and while I still can see the balance on hold it means the money are there.

When I first opened my paypal account I had a reference number to be written when I was transfering money from bank account to paypal via online banking/mobile app. Every single time the transfer and availability was immediately.
I lost that ref no and last week I transferred some money using paypal/deposit. It took 5 days to see the money in my balance.

    Just wait...
  • You just need to wait.

Monies get held all the time especially large sums and/or when an item of value is sold such as an electrical device.

Paypal customer services are normally really good, so this is surprising.

Ask Paypal for the Faster Payment ID. This a) proves the transfer has been sent and b) gives you something you can provide your bank to help track down the missing payment.

One possibility is that this was actually sent by BACS not faster payment (paypal do use this method a lot)., BACS takes three working days so would arrive on Wednesday. But then, you were told it would arrive yesterday, and BACS doesn't process on weekends.

Yes, I had this happen to me recently when I sold an iPad. Apparently it is quite common but it was the first time it had happened to me. I would have to wait up to 21 days for the money to be available in Paypal, but it would be quicker if certain criteria were met, e.g. putting in recognised tracking ID that confirms when the item has been delivered or getting positive feedback from the buyer. In these situations I think it takes about 3-5 days.

This is fairly standard for PayPal when you sell items on eBay and particularly if you don't have a long history with them

basically there is a lot of fraud on eBay with people paying money over for items that don't arrive and so PayPal hold onto a money for quite some time

there is absolutely no point calling them just have to wait until the money shows coming off hold

I always find it very disappointing when an OP decides to delete the contents of their post, preventing others who may experience the same issue from getting the benefit of the responses. Then again, based on the responses I suppose people can put 2 and 2 together.

Agreed, it's bad form to do that.

Anyway, Queen_of_[STRIKE]Drama[/STRIKE]Omega mentioned that she'd posted the same on the PayPal community site, so for those who read the original post prior to deletion, it's not difficult to find https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Payments/Missing-Money-Constant-Lies-and-Runaround/m-p/1670441, which was quoted as the OP on this thread:
    Hi,

I'm really hoping someone here can help me as I've had no luck so far with Customer Service phone calls, live chat, Facebook or anywhere else.

I sold an item on eBay, the money arrived in my PayPal account and I was told I would be able to access it November 27th.

That date came, I couldn't access the funds.

I then proceeded to place many phone calls and many chats via live chat to various people; all of whom told me vastly differing information. Finally, on November 30th, I got fed up and called AGAIN to find out what the heck was going on. Finally, I got through to someone who actually helped me and the funds were available within two hours.

    Brilliant. End of saga.

    Or, not.

The person I'd spoken to told me that once it was available I'd be able to use it to buy items online or I could just transfer it to my bank account, which was what I wanted to do. I asked her how long that would take and was told two hours from the time I made the withdrawal to the time it would appear in my bank account. That's the information I was given - two hours, end of.

I then proceeded to do the withdrawal, and the PayPal website itself confirmed what I'd been told - the money would be in my bank account within the next two hours. This was done early afternoon.

Three hours later, no money. So I used the live chat and was told that I'd been given incorrect information and my money wouldn't be available for 24 hours. Obviously, at this point, having had so much trouble from the get-go, I was not hugely happy with this and ended up on a call to someone who went through to the "back office", had them reverse the transaction and then put it through manually. This, I was told would essentially bypass the waiting period that I hadn't been told about in the first place and it would be in my bank account by the end of the day.

I let it get as late as possible and again, no money and my bank weren't even able to see anything pending from PayPal, whereas usually they can see if something is due to go into my account.

So, at around 8pm yesterday evening, I called again and got told that everything I had been told previously was wrong and I'd just have to wait 3-5 DAYS for my funds to appear.

By this point, I'm getting more than a little frustrated and upset, and asked to speak to someone higher up. After much arguing on the side of the gentleman I was talking to, I finally spoke to a supervisor.

They promised me they'd raised it as an urgent escalation claim and I would be contacted before 1pm today.

I was not surprised when no call came in.

So at around 2:30pm today I called in AGAIN, marking the seventh call in two days and was told it hadn't been flagged at all and I'd just have to wait. Again, I explained the whole situation of having been mislead, outright lied to and given the run around by PayPal and asked if I could speak to a supervisor again to try and sort this whole mess out.

The person I was talking to demanded a reason why I wanted to talk to someone else and told me point blank, "if you won't give me a reason I don't have to do anything other than what I've done" which was quite possibly the rudest attitude to take while in a customer service position.

She then told me to "just stay on hold" and after about 45 minutes I was finally transferred to a supervisor who then went back to the "back office" and came back, informing me that they said it would definitely, guaranteed be in my bank account by 6pm today.

It is now 7:30pm and there is still no payment. I have phoned my bank again and they still have nothing pending from PayPal.

PayPal are now telling me I either put my bank and them into a three way call or they won't believe me, my bank have laughed that suggestion away because it's against their data protection. PayPal are also telling me that the transfer is completed (it's not showing as complete at all for me, I've since sent proof of this to their webform email address) and it's the banks fault, their job to fix and not PayPals.

As I was trying to get through to my bank, the person at PayPal hung up on me and I am now back to waiting for yet another call back, this now being the ninth or tenth time in two days that I've had to go through this.

I'm beyond angry. My money, and it's not even a massive amount, it's just over £70, has gone missing and PayPal seem determined to pass the buck and deny any and all responsibility.

Someone, somewhere, please help me recover my money before I explode. Either have the money put back into my PayPal account, or get it to my bank account. I honestly don't care which anymore.
