Phone help

Options
Hiya everybody, I have ancient Asda android phone and have been given an apple iphone 4s. The new phone (well it's mums old one) is not locked.

I have taken the sim out of my old phone and stuck it in mums phone but we keep getting there are no contacts any ideas please?

Do we have to do anything strange?

Thanks, Carol

  • Hiya, My old Asda phone is an android phone and not an iphone.

The bloke in the shop said just move from sim from android phone over into new iphone and it would work immediately, it's not working at all.

If you can make phone calls then the phone is working just as it should. On your old phone sync your contacts with your Google account. You can then sync the iPhone with the Google account to get the contacts onto the iPhone. Contacts are not stored on your SIM.

Changed from Samsung to iPhone some months ago. Have pay asyou go with Tesco (02). Tesco phone rep at local supermarket swapped everything including new SIM card.
  • using an old nokia 8310 whilst samsung is repaired , go to contacts and simply select copy to sim , not sure iphone but check id the contacts being used are sim or phone

I had something similar and this is how I got round it. My old phone had the option to save contacts to either the phone or to the SIM, it appears that I'd saved mine to the phone only and not the SIM. So I put the SIM back into the old phone and found the facility to transfer the contacts from the phone to the SIM, then everything worked on the new phone.

I hope this makes sense, I'm no expert but it's worth a try. Or as the previous post suggests, just go into your phone shop and get someone to sort it for you.

Pretty sure iOS does not support contacts on a SIM, there is certainly no facility to manage them.

Well it worked for me when I swapped from an android to an iPhone last month.
