I applied for 10k worth, both for my wife and I in newly opened ISA's but see our applications have been limited to less than half applied for.stuckinazoo wrote: »
What are everyone's thoughts? Will there be many people selling today and if I sell and bank on a significant dip, will there be limitations for buying back a similar number of shares in the near future?
They are currently up 37%. Unable to sell them until they go unconditional on the 12th,so hope they hold until then and will be happy to take a quick profit.0 -

if you're in it for the long term, why are you thinking of selling?!stuckinazoo wrote: »Well I've made a bigger gain (albeit on a purchase under the £2000 I applied for) than I'm likely to make again in 24 hours.

This is my lifetime ISA so in it for the long term.
nobody knows whether there'll be a dip (letting you buy back more cheaply). that's the nature of shares.
to go back to the HL comparison, they were IPO'd in 2007 for the identical price per share (160p), and were also trading over 200p on day 1. they were eventually (the next year) trading at under 140p (for a small number of days). but that was mainly because the overall market was lower (in 2008). probably the biggest factor affecting AJB's price will similarly be the general level of stock markets. this is what happens when a lot of your revenue is charged as a percentage of AUM. and who can predict stock markets generally? nobody.
i'm doing nothing. applied for more than i wanted, and scaled back to pretty much exactly what i wanted, so bullseye

Brilliant, thank you! Couldn't deal online but just rang them and all out at 219.
Only charged the online charge of £9.95.0 -
Offer was oversubscribed, I got about 85% of what I had requested. I'll be holding them for the long term. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

I also asked for £2000 in my sipp and spent £1265.60, which is 63.28% of the requested amount, on the 791 shares.I asked for £2000 and only got about 61%
Then I sold them all a few minutes before market close, and after the dealing fee had net proceeds of £1730.65.
Not bad for a few days of having the capital tied up

            the announcement this morning said:
so presumably people applying for £1000 (the minimum application) got 527 shares for £843.20.All successful applications received a minimum of 527 shares priced at 160 pence per Share but were subject to scaling back due to the over-subscribed nature of the Qualifying Offer.
and presumably people applying for more got the same proportion for the first £1000, but a reducing proportion for the rest of their application.
i applied in a dealing account, which made it more practical to over-apply, since i don't have much spare cash inside an ISA or SIPP. obviously i am shocked at the cynical way in which some of you have sold on day 1. and there is of course nothing cynical about me applying for more shares than i really wanted

Only 42% allocation from a £10k application but sold with a 36% profit (£1.5k) so not too disappointed!0
