    I believe what may have happened is that Either he knows/recognises her already, recognised her and the car from the area and knew the general area she lived, so drove around untill he found the car and hence found the address, Or someone who seen her nudge his car knew her and told him where she lived. Shopkeepers or counter staff are a wealth of local info, when people chat about their lives to them, like where there from, its being part of being a shop within a small local community.

    He told her "i got it the address from police" so she wouldn't challenge him or call police on him for his actions of barging in, he basically played a psychological game of, "ive been to the police they know everything and sent me round because they gave me your address, I have some sort of authority to be here and do what im doing".

    People here are clinging to the words he said of been to the police likes its the gods honest truth, when it doesn't stack up in reality. I'm not buying it, I don't think he went within a mile of a police station, he certain would NOT have had ANY information regarding the ops sister AT ALL from ANY staff there.

    Someone must have told him though is still the simplest explanation, most people just wouldn't work that hard at tracing someone.

    Or he recognised the car - it was in a rabbit warren new build estate, but he might be too, or may see it regularly - especially if it's got something distinctive about it.

    This sounds like a big shop, supermarket, etc. If that's the case I doubt they'd let him see the CCTV. If it was a small shop then it's a maybe, but unlikely.
    Even with the CCTV, they couldn't take it into a police station and get an address - the police don't do that, and certainly won't over a parking scuff. They'd either go round themselves or refer it to insurance (which is what they are there for).

    They certainly wouldn't give out the address of a registered keeper to a man that walked in off the street with a registration number - that's a massive security/stalker risk, and they wouldn't encourage a personal visit anyway for a collision. He might have gotten one if he happened to have a friend at the station who was willing to do it, but it's a sackable offense.

    So does anyone really think this other driver finished his shop, saw the damage, went back in, saw the CCTV, got the reg number, went to the police station (that happened to be staffed), got an illegal PNC check done, looked up the address and visited it within an hour?

    Or is it more likely he was walking back to the car, saw the incident, noted the number/details and then spent an hour trying to catch up with / find her?

    More importantly, since she'll have presumably contacted the police as soon as he left - Did the police confirm his version of events? What are they saying about it?

    Can I just clarify something here;

    Are some people saying a man can get the registration number of a female car driver, then just walk into a police station, claim she's hit his car and the police will give him the name and address of a female car owner (registered keeper)?

    If so, I think that's one for the media to highlight.

    Agreed. Otherwise anyone can turn up at a police station claiming all sorts and expecting to get names and addressess.
