DIY Drywall Monstrosity. Advice Needed.

    Thank you for your replies. The purple layer is about 2-3mm thicker than the damaged drywall/chalk layer, that's why I'm unsure whether 1400 lining paper would work or if I should skim it.

    I might use some priming filler to seal everything and stop it flaking and then skim it.

    It's a huge relief when some of you don't think this is a big deal and can be fixed. Still, tough little job. Hope that's the wost it gets.

    If the plasterboard (sheetrock) is hollow, then yes, it might be better to skim or replace it. If it still feels solid, might get away with relining with paper.
