DIY Drywall Monstrosity. Advice Needed.

Thank you for your replies. The purple layer is about 2-3mm thicker than the damaged drywall/chalk layer, that's why I'm unsure whether 1400 lining paper would work or if I should skim it.
I might use some priming filler to seal everything and stop it flaking and then skim it.
It's a huge relief when some of you don't think this is a big deal and can be fixed. Still, tough little job. Hope that's the wost it gets.0 -

If the plasterboard (sheetrock) is hollow, then yes, it might be better to skim or replace it. If it still feels solid, might get away with relining with paper.0
