Sometimes it is job trap.
Someone is good at their job, no trouble, helpful etc.
Why promote them and have to fill a position that has been working well for years.0 -
To be bluntHello I am needing some advise
I have been working for the same company for 13 years. I have been an assistant for 10 years. My employer ran a diploma course, which I was never offered to go on but other workers in a lower position were put onto it. Since then I have had 3 interviews for jobs ever time the people that were offered the diploma got the jobs over me. One of the jobs was the roll I was doing now just at another site and was told that the other candidate was stronger. The last interview I had I was told I was there 2nd choice out of the 3 that applied. but the other candidate was just a little better on the day. Ps she did the diploma. I asked why I was not offered to do the diploma and was told it was a mistake. They no longer do the diploma so it’s no longer on offer. I applied for another 2 jobs that came up along with the person that came 3rd. (She had done the diploma) I was not offer interviews but she was and she got the job. I have asked for training multiple times and have been ignored and have asked why I did not get offered an interview. Which they said they don’t need to tell me as I did not get an interview. She was told she was the only person they interviewed and that she was the only person to apply. I was wondering if this is ok for them to do and if there is anything I can do? Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
They see you as adequate but no more.

Only if you can prove that the reason you are not getting the chances are down to protected characteristics.I am looking to move on now. Just feel like it’s unfair and was wondering if there was any legal or tribunal rouits to presue at this time?
And tbh even then you may as well just move onDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Did you ever ask about doing the diploma when you noticed others were doing it? (Im talking over the past years, not this latest discussion) if not, why not.
I was passed over for some essential training as the course I was booked onto was cancelled and my boss just didn't put two and two together to book me onto another one as she'd already ticked it off on my training programme. When the training came up again and I noticed I wasnt down for it, I raised it with my boss and was swiftly booked onto the new course.0 -

It also happens that someone is good at their job but does not seem to display the necessary flair or ability for doing the next job up.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I worked as a University Administrator for a few years. I had the urge to do something slightly different so applied for a job in a different Faculty. I had an interview which I thought went OK but I didn't get the job. They provided feedback which was "we think you're ideally suited to the job you're already doing"
Maybe they thought something similar about you0
