Hello I am needing some advise
I have been working for the same company for 13 years. I have been an assistant for 10 years. My employer ran a diploma course, which I was never offered to go on but other workers in a lower position were put onto it. Since then I have had 3 interviews for jobs ever time the people that were offered the diploma got the jobs over me. One of the jobs was the roll I was doing now just at another site and was told that the other candidate was stronger. The last interview I had I was told I was there 2nd choice out of the 3 that applied. but the other candidate was just a little better on the day. Ps she did the diploma. I asked why I was not offered to do the diploma and was told it was a mistake. They no longer do the diploma so it’s no longer on offer. I applied for another 2 jobs that came up along with the person that came 3rd. (She had done the diploma) I was not offer interviews but she was and she got the job. I have asked for training multiple times and have been ignored and have asked why I did not get offered an interview. Which they said they don’t need to tell me as I did not get an interview. She was told she was the only person they interviewed and that she was the only person to apply. I was wondering if this is ok for them to do and if there is anything I can do? Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Is it feasible to do this diploma privately?0
-
(Or some other training privately which you can then ensure gets put on your record in supervision or appraisals. Even a free course will probably impress your employer
) Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Unfortunately I am unable to afford to pay for training as an a new dad. Free training dose not exists for what I do. My field of work is animal behaviour. I really love my job but feel as if I am being pushed out at this time.
Thank you both for replying.0 -
Yes, it sounds to me like you are being pushed out. Why do you think this might be? Sometimes the face simply doesn't fit - and moving on would be better for you.
But in the meantime, sit yourself down and have a good chat with yourself about why all this might have happened. Why might they have 'forgotten' to offer you the diploma course? Why might they not have offered you the interviews?
If you're wanting promotion (and after 10 years as an assistant, who wouldn't), I think changing jobs is the only way it will happen. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
I am looking to move on now. Just feel like it’s unfair and was wondering if there was any legal or tribunal rouits to presue at this time?0

No basically.
The are not obligated to give you a job over someone else because of your own metrics.
Just look for something else.0 -
Ok cheers. It’s a shame. But time to move on0

Ask you manager and peers for honest feedback about your performance, and listen to them and try to improve.
Also take the time to note down anything you know you are doing wrong and amend it yourself.
Basically do your job better and you'll be more likely to get a promotion.0 -
It might be a blessing not getting promoted if three roles have come up in quick succession tbh:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one
