I'm looking at moving to Warrington, although I know very little about the area
Does anyone know if Lingley Green is nice? (near Great Sankey)
I saw they're building a new train station near by which is a plus!

Ahhhhh Warrington, the place where I was born and bred. Moved away 6 years ago and reluctantly go back to visit family. Terrible roads, one accident on the motorways (surrounded by M56, M62, M6) and the place becomes a car park (this frequently happens). Declining town centre (full of junkies), Friday and Saturday nights out in the town centre are no goes for anyone not hellbent on getting as pi**ed as possible as quickly as possible. Terrible transport system. Terrible infrastructure.
I'm sure I'll think of something else shortly0 -

Brutal honesty. Love it! I once got ppr'd for slagging off my home town which wasn't fair as I was accurate and fair.0 -
I live in Penketh now and though born in Warrington have lived elsewhere and moved back.
Lingley Green is a new estate close to motorway, schools, supermarkets, parks,
leisure centre and IKEA etc. You will pay a premium though compared to the more established areas.
Locals seem to have nothing good to say about Warrington though it has all the essentials locally, transport links are excellent in terms of local train station, London in under 2 hours etc. You have occasional traffic issues but this is the case in most built up areas, no where near as bad as Manchester/ London though!
Plenty of decent independent and chain restaurants in the town centre (around Palmyra square) and in places such as Stockton heath.
Shopping wises you have a couple of large shopping parks with free parking. The town centre mall has a good variety of shops, the rest of the town centre is run down due to the mall expansion causing large shops to move across but there are moves afoot to redevelop this with a new cinema/ retail/ restaurant complex at time Square being built.
Nightlife is better in Liverpool and Manchester. You can get a train to both!
So in summary Warrington is a great place to live and/or work and is improving.
