Any dry cleaners out there?

Options
I've had a problem recently with dry cleaning a suit at a dry cleaners I've used for a few years without problems. I wear suits for work every day.

The issue is Marks and Spencer using something called Supercrease in their suits these days. This is a kind of glue which is run down the length of the trouser creases and supposedly keeps those creases sharper for longer.

Unfortunately when the dry cleaners pressed the suit they didn't exactly follow the original crease so I had tramlines down my trousers and they looked awful. I took the trousers back and they re-pressed them. They're much better than they were but still wandering in places. The cleaners said that they really dislike Supercrease and that it makes the trousers really hard to press.

I've got two M&S suits now with this Supercrease stuff in the trousers so it could be a bit tricky getting these cleaned now. I'm not really sure why M&S put it in. Ive never had problems with creases not lasting between dry cleans before so my thinking is - if it ain't broke, why fix it?

I'd be interested to know if there's anyone with professional knowledge of dry cleaning. What do you think? Should I change my Dry Cleaners or avoid M&S suits in future?

Contact M&S and let them know of the issues, if enough people do tha5 they will likely discontinue supercrease or at least be able to advise of the correct way to press them without causing problems.
  • Thanks. I'll definitely be doing that.

I didn't know the suits had Supercrease when I bought them. I've checked the M&S website and it's mentioned on a few of the product descriptions but I don't remember seeing it on the label when I bought mine.

It just strikes me that the trousers must be pressed exactly on the crease forever. A slight miss will make a (semi) permanent second crease. I don't think that's a benefit!
