Land Registry Alert - Application Lodged on my property deeds no idea what it is?!

I have received an email alert from HM Land Reistry on my property deeds reference number today at 16.49 by Newton’s Solicitors Ltd with a customer ref number. I have no idea what this is as not selling.

I can’t get hold of anyone as all now closed until Monday. Anyone know what this is and how someone can lodge an application against deeds that are not theirs?

Try the Land Registry thread on this forum - they seem to work more than the standard office hours

Thank you. There’s a couple of houses nearby that’s for sale so hopefully a mistake.

I tried calling the offices of land registry and the solicitors but all shut until Monday. I will search the land registry on here hopefully someone around that can answer :)

Have you done the first basic check. Is the email actually from Land Registry?

I had one - the owner of another flat in the block was extending the mortgage. Different address, same postcode.

Bit of an odd one ...

An old friend was convinced by her daughter to take out 'finance' for some replacement DG windows on her property...

She remembers the amount to be around £45,000 !
But she is very vague as to whether this was a part grant or an equity release type thing, I cannot find any paperwork at her home...

Would it be possible for her to find out if there is a lien on her property or even a worse scenario of Lifetime mortgage thingy ?

She was in a not good place mentally when she was persuaded to sign this, as her husband had recently died...

No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.
Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten.

You would be better starting your own thread, otherwise answers will become confusing responding two questions at once.
