Got a parking ticket for entering 1 letter wrong

Hi, I got a parking ticket from Islington council London. I paid 2 hours parking fees by using their phone recording system. I read out my car' colour, make and the reg number and got confirmation from the speech recognition system. I came back in 2 hours and found I had a parking ticket!
I checked my mobile and realised that their system mistook the B on my plate as the V. Otherwise all the details are correct.
I made an informal appeal by writing to the email on the parking ticket and got the reply that it was unsuccessful.
What shall I do next? Do I need to reply to this decision, asking for a notice to owner ? Does anyone have a template that I can use?
Thanks in advance!

I suggest you take this over to our friends on pepipoo.com as they are the council/police motoring experts, whereas we specialise in private parking charges here on MSE.

You will need to register there with a non-Hotmail email account before reading the FAQs and posting a redacted copy of your PCN (both sides) with your query.

As the PCN was issued correctly, payment is now due. I have decided that we can accept the discounted amount of £65.00 provided we receive that before 18/12/2018. Please bear in mind that on that date the charge will increase to £130.00.

If you wish to continue to contest the matter, the next stage is that a Notice to Owner will be sent to the person responsible for the penalty charge. This is a necessary legal step and further correspondence will only delay this process.

I am afraid you are unlikely to get a further opportunity to make discounted payment. However, the Notice to Owner will establish liability for the Penalty Charge Notice and the grounds under which representations may be made. If representations are made at this stage and they are rejected, there will be the right of appeal to an independent Environment and Traffic Adjudicator.

So that means that I should reply to say, I will prefer to contest this matter further?
  • Thank you ! I am posting on there now.

No. You WAIT for the NTO then repeat the appeal to a proper Appeals person.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
