BT Calls over 60 minutes cost/min

Does anyone know the cost per minute when a BT call made on standard tariff exceeds 60 minutes?

Try as I might, I can't find this number anywhere.

I am trying to do a comparison between calls made on my current tariff and what they would have cost on standard tariff. One of those calls lasted for 79 minutes and I was charged £3.00 = 60 minutes free plus 19 minutes at 16p (which includes VAT, I think).

Does anyone have a numerical answer in pence per minute and whether that number includes VAT?

I think it is about 15p per minute, including VAT, to landline numbers (01 and 02) and to 03 numbers.

I am not sure what you mean by "standard tariff", I assume you mean the one with inclusive weekend calls. BT also offers inclusive evening and weekend calls, and inclusive anytime calls.

If you had of redialled before the 60 mins was up then the £3 wouldn't have been charged, but (just a guess) if the call goes over 60 mins, the rate is 15p/min but the 23p set up charge is now applied as its no longer an inclusive call , 23p+(19x15p)...the obvious thing to do is not exceed 60 mins or hang up and redial....for comparison , if the whole call was paid for , the cost would be 79x15p+23p (over £12) so this one call justifys the approx £10 cost of an anytime plan, especially if you hang up and redial on really long calls

    some numerical answers.

EE (owned by BT) do inclusive landline calls for £4/month
Most other providers do inclusive calls for £8/month (most include mobile calls in this)

If you exceed the time limit for one call, the connection charge is not applied. The connection charge applies only when a call starts off as chargeable or is always chargeable.

The OP asked what the PPM was (including VAT) its 15p a minute , the 19 minutes over the 60 should be around £2.85 , close enough to be the £3 the OP refers to.

I suggested (but I said nothing more than a guess ) to add on 23p, then it becomes becomes £3.08, to explain away the difference between what they expected to pay and what the charge was ( a few penny's)
The OP mentions 16p , (when it's 15p a minute ) so it suggests they were wondering why it was a little over £3 rather than a little under £3, but perhaps it was exactly £3.
TBH , it's such a small percentage of the call cost it's hardly worth worrying about, but the OP presumably is concerned otherwise why bother posting.

The chances the call is rounded up to the next full minute, so the 19 mins may actually be 20 mins, and that would be £3 at 15p a minute, which is what the tarrif guide states the price per minute is, so no connection fee, just 15ppm
