Just a guess but silicone rubbers normally have some silicone oil within the mixture, so possibly some silicone oil in the silicone sealant formula, making the immediate area around the sealant a bit oily. But it won't spread far or affect the whole room.

As for finishing, I use a set of sealant tools which make it reasonably easy to get a nice finish even on internal corners - they're cheap enough on Amazon.

I watched that on earlier, didn't see him do any three way corners.
I did see one a few years ago when I did the bathroom in the flat, he used tape on the corner, came out a treat, can't find the video now though and my corner didn't look half as good as his....

No I'm very much not imagining it.

I believe you as the same thing happened to us when a plumber did some work in our ensuite a few weeks back, he resealed along the back of the sink. It was noticeable that the flooring was slippery after his visit. I noticed it and my OH also asked if I'd done something to make the floor slippery.

  • I've had exactly the same problem. Yesterday I resealed our bath. I filled the bath with water and stood in it to apply the sealant. I'm not very skilled and some of the sealant dropped from the gun into the water. Later I noticed the water had a green tinge to it and shortly after that all the laminate floor where I had walked is now very slippy and even the carpet in some pleces. Does anyone know how to get rid of the slipperiness?

It disappears after a few days.
