Which Suppliers are offereing SMETS 2 meeters today.
I have rung round a lot of suppliers today and have not found anyone offereing them.
The best excuses i have had are
1, SMETS 2 meeters are only for flats
2, There is no diference betweenthem you should just take a SMETS 1
3, We are offering them but not in your area yet.
Any sugestions?
Thanks
James

The official rumour is that all will have to from Dec 5th.
Whether or not they have manpower in your area is another matter.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

2: Depends on whether SMETS1 meters will actually be made interoperable with the DCC during 2019. If it is then there will be little difference between SMETS1 and SMETS2. The problem now is that the ne'er-do-wells and doom merchants are claiming without any evidence at all that the software upgrade of SMETS1 is pure fiction. The other problem is that a few energy suppliers are only accepting customers who agree to a smart meter, i.e. First Utility Smart First Feb 2020 v2 and EDF easy online Dec 19 v2. So if you want such a tariff you'll have to go smart.
3: No energy company is installing nationwide at the same time.
EDF is proclaiming that "the new generation of smart meters is here" so I assume they mean SMETS2. As far as I know they will be exchanging my SMETS1 Scottish Power smart meters but, yes you've guessed it, they are not installing in my area.0 -
SP have just e mailed me saying my metres are being phased out and smart meters are being fitted in my area.
They do keep trying !
No way do I want S 1 or 2, until I have to , which they failed to mention which type they are fitting.0 -

I have decided to decline their offer by ignoring the email as I have with all their previous attempts to try to get me to change to smart meters.0 -
I have also received another email today from SP informing me that they are in my area fitting smart meters and to contact them to arrange a fitting, there is a link in the email giving more information and it states they are fitting SMETS1 at the moment and the software will be updated in the future.

I guessed they would be smet 1.
Everyone must be working in my area.
What a ploy, I used that line when cold calling on houses selling double glazing back in the late sixties.
It worked back then.:)0 -

What kind of smart meters are you installing?
We are installing the first generation meters at the moment. Whilst there will be a second generation meter at some point, we recommend fitting your smart meter now to start enjoying the benefits right away. Your meter can be upgraded to a second generation remotely when the time comes, like upgrading software on your phone.
This is rubbish and Scottish Power obviously believe that it is perfectly acceptable to blatantly lie to their customers in order to achieve their smart meter install targets by fitting obsolete meters.
Due to delay after delay energy suppliers have fitted a total of 12.5 million of the old SMETS1 meters.
The SMETS1 meters installed have been split into three groups. A solution for the first of these three groups is currently being tested.
The National Audit Office report it says that the Government has not yet decided if a third of these smart meters, around 4.2 million, will ever be enrolled onto this new vital system when it is launched. "It is awaiting cost and feasibility information,"0 -
landis and Gyr are claiming on their website that the G370 smart gas meter, used by BG and others is capable of OTA upgrades to SMETS2. They also claim that the very common Libra 310 smart gas meter is capable of SMETS2 upgrade by a module change with no need to exchange the meter.

Rubbish/lies in your opinion ,about the possibility of remote upgrade ?
I would have thought they could be sue d if it was b/s0
