Mortgage & catalogue credit

Hi all,
First post in here so hoping I have done it right! Basically we have a mortgage application which has been approved, valuation approved also and now just waiting for our mortgage offer so we haven't exchanged contracts and house isn't built until May 2019 so completion is a while.
I've seen lots of posts about people applying for *NEW* credit in this period however I already have an open catalogue that I pay monthly (more than the minimum amount) and my limit has increased twice due to me paying regularly and on time etc. So I need a new mobile phone and I cannot take out a new phone contract and wouldn't want to anyway. I don't need anything brand new and latest edition. Just need a working one so no more than £150 - £200 max!!! Can I order on my catalogue without it affecting our mortgage application as it isn't like taking out a £5000 loan on a new car etc.
Just need some advice and help before I do. I have also emailed our financial advisor to ask his advice too but wanted to know if anyone had been in a similar situation.
Thank you,
Chloe

Buy it with cash?0

Can you not get a cheap PAYG for £20 just until after the mortgage is sorted?0

I guess using any form of credit, including existing sources could have a bearing on affordability, so if you think it could be close to the wire, then don't risk it and just get a cheap phone to tide you over0

I agree with the idea of just making do with something cheap for the time being. Why risk itThose who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000

If your struggling to find cash to buy a cheap phone, are you ready for all the moving/buying expenses? Always costs more than you think!0
