Seconded. No sense in trying to bring up issues that are either resolved or so out of date that none of the original posters are even around any more, much less interested.I am a Chartered Financial Planner

Mmm... to wait 3 months to post this or ...
I would say it depends how relevant what you have to post about is to the thread that you're 'bringing back from the dead'.
For example if you find a thread that contains information that's very relevant to a question you're about to ask, I think it's better to post your question in that thread instead of spamming the forum with a new thread. That way when someone else wants to find out about the same thing it's a lot easier to find just one single thread that covers everything you needed to know about rather than having to trawl through a dozen individual threads.
But having said this I can imagine the kind of post you're complaining about... someone who comes along a year after a thread was last posted on and adds to it something like 'Well said!'.
Depends on what kind of post it is I guess

For some reason they were all three-year-old threads and his comments weren't anything like so useful as 'well said'.But having said this I can imagine the kind of post you're complaining about... someone who comes along a year after a thread was last posted on and adds to it something like 'Well said!'.

But someone must have reported them, so his posts have been deleted. But only his posts, so now the first post in three years on those threads is me suggesting it's an old thread and should be ignored! I can see this leading to someone else posting to ignore my post as it's an old thread.... and so on....0 -
lol
You can delete your own posts iirc? Goto edit the post as you would normally then there should be the option to delete the post and give a reason why if you really wanted toso now the first post in three years on those threads is me suggesting it's an old thread and should be ignored!
Yep just checked this and seems to be the case. 0 -
Ooh, ta Munk, why didn't I think of that! I think I'll do just that, as long as someone hasn't replied and complicated it even more ;-)You can delete your own posts iirc? Yep just checked this and seems to be the case.
Edit: Job done. It's had the desirable side effect (which I had hoped it might) of returning the posts to their rightful place in chronological order, ie 2004.0
