Buyer not happy with item sent. What to do now?

  • Do i let them have it for free though when i think it was a decent item? No.

Only you can make that call.

If you want to add your own prepaid label, then use your chosen carrier, pay for a label addressed to you. Take a screenshot of the label and upload it to the case adding the tracking reference.

*I would buy a prepaid label that means they have to drop the parcel off, don't arrange a collection from theirs as it's too time consuming/difficult to arrange.

Using Hermes, as it's the cheapest, would you go down the route of saying to them they can use the machine in their drop off shop to print a label or what? As i imagine they wont be printing a label off of a screenshot but at the same time they may (like i do) prefer to print the label off at home than do it in the shop.

Sorry i'm very aware this is sounding 'thick' but i know how to deal with the postage label when it's sent to my email address. Open the .pdf and print off, job done. I'm just wondering how they print it off when it's sent to my email address.

If you tell them to print in the shop do you get a copy and tracking to upload to the case? I don't know how Hermes works in store.

I always give the option of me (snail)-mailing the label or printing it from the upload in the case. All you need to do is add it to the case, if they can't print it, it's their issue. Don't give too many choices as it can come back and bite you on the bum.

Buy the label and when it's emailed to you open it up and take a screenshot and add that to the case, that is how they print it, they access it from the case.

It's not just a case of getting more for it, it's that i think the buyer may be trying a scam - low cost item, seller wont bother to have it returned so i'll say it's no good, that way the seller will refund me & i'll have got the item for free. Win for me kind of thing.

No i don't think i'll get much more for it. Do i let them have it for free though when i think it was a decent item? No.
I've found it's not worth the hassle in the long run.

If you do think it's a scam then you can ask that they return for a full refund and a reimbursement of postage, if they just want a freebie then they probably won't bother. Technically you're supposed to give means of posting first but if you're a private seller you don't need to know that!

  • I'm just wondering how i go about sending them a prepaid label?

Once they open the case, you will have a button to provide them a label. You click the button !
