private custom tour in Colombia, Trailfinders or Vivid Travel?

HI

I am heading off to South America next month by myself and I have a tailored private tour in Colombia for 9 days - Bogota, Salento and Medellin. I have received two quotes, for the exact same tour (same excursions, internal domestic flights only, hotels, number of days etc) from Vivid Travel and Trailfinders. Vivid are charging £2450 and Trailfinders, £2600.

Note, I have already booked my international flights separately with Trailfinders about a month ago and therefore if I book with them I get the full 'package' protection.

Will I still get this with Vivid? Who are better??

When I saw the prices you quoted my mind went blank: not very MSE.

It is very easy to book your own flights and hotels in most of Colombia. Transport to the rural areas can be difficult and there are sometimes security issues, so a high-cost guide and private vehicle might make sense then, but no need for a guide for the cities. Make sure you have a good guide book and read the sections warning which areas are dangerous.

I am putting together a 10 day trip in Colombia for end of Jan 2019.

    Medellin, ->Cartegena -> Bogota.

International flight MAD-MDE is sorted (£33 +42000 Avios per person (one way) business class Iberia).

Airbnb rooms are from £9 -£20 per night for two adults.
Flights between the cities are £50 per flight for 2 adults. Directly booked through Avianca

So that's a staggering £300 ish for the total 10 days for transport and accomodation.
So according to your figures I have £2300 to spend on excursions:cool:

The 5* hotel I have on standby (may not use it-using IHG points) would cost £100 per room so if I stayed at similar properties at all the cities the accomodation bill would be £1K

    Still way under your bill.

A lot to pay for the "full protection" whatever that is...

    DIY it's easy;)

No you won't. Booking more elements a month after booking international flights won't make it a package.

I added the flight to show even that is doable DIY.

It was not included in my quote for the hotels and internal flights as per the OP's quote.
