That says 'from Jan 2005' so may not cover the OP's car, although there may well be a board for the previous model too.

Ooh, that's a question that's just begging for some not-so-serious answers :rotfl:.

Not strange at all, the yellow plastic at the top goes brittle and starts to fall apart, not what you want in the sump.

Reminds me I need to order a new one for my mine, not a 3l though or I would have measured it for you.

My old one snapped half way down (oooh errr :o) but it didnt break completely, so managed to get it out, and stupidly threw the broekn off part away, and put the plastic handle and half dipstick back in to prevent oil travelling back up the dipstick tube.

Ordered a new one online, and it looks longer than it should be, and dont want to put it in and it go down too far...

    (awaiting more non-serious comments...........) :o

I didn't realise this kind of thing still happened to modern cars. I had, of all things, a Moskvich 412 in the early 70's which had a dipstick about 2 feet long. Checking the oil one day, I found it had about 6 inches of dipstick left. I coped for a while by borrowing one from a workplace colleague who also had a Moskvich. One day, when in the area anyway, I called in at the nearest dealer/repairer at Histon near Cambridge and said that maybe it was an unusual request but did they happen to have a replacement dipstick. One was produced immediately and he mentioned that they'd had a bit of run on them. I kept the car another couple of years and sold it locally, still seeing it running around. The length of metal still lying in the bottom of the sump obviously never caused any problems. Strong cars, weak dipsticks.
