Jeep advice

Hello all

I’m posting on behalf of my brother. He has been having problems with his jeep he has contacted jeep but had no luck.
He has had problems with his trims, alloys going rusty, carbon filter has come unstuck. This is a jeep SRT so not a cheap motor.
When he contacted jeep the said they would pay half of the bill. I’m not 100% sure but think the car is still in warranty.

Any advice would be great please

What reason are they giving for the items not being covered under the warranty?

  • Is the car in warranty or not? Is it a Jeep warranty or aftermarket? How old is the car? When was it bought?

Rusty alloys doesn't sound good! Have they fitted steel wheels by mistake?

What does the dealer that it was bought from say, as that's where his consumer rights are?

I think we can take "rusty" as meaning "corroded". The difference is, of course, that the corrosion is merely cosmetic rather than eventually structural.

The warranty is 3yr/60k miles, with the third year being covered by the original supplying dealer, rather than Fiat-Chrysler UK.

What's covered is another question - "Check your warranty booklet". But I suspect that the finish on the alloys would come under the two year paint warranty, at best, and would obviously be void if the corrosion had started due to kerbing (or off-road!) damage. And if the warranty HAS expired (through time or mileage, or been voided by lack of servicing), then all bets are off, and he's down to goodwill.

Ford offer a 3 year warranty on their cars but when my front alloys suffered corrosion after 13 months and the door seals came unstuck they stated that trim items and wheels were only covered for 12 months!

    Jeep could be similar
