Can I balance transfer from a bank current account?

Is there a way of relieving my current account with a balance transfer onto my 0% card? I asked Sainsburys Bank to do this but it is not their policy to do so...

Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper
Egg Money, and a 0% on BT's 'donor' card
    Egg Card
MBNA. and MBNA run cards, eg Virgin, A&L, Sony, etc
    Mint, via cheques
M&S, via the travellers cheque loophole
    There may be more...

Does anyone else think it's time we had a sticky entitled...

"How can I get cash off a credit card at 0%/low APR?"

It would serve to answer many questions...

Can I transfer my overdraft to a 0% credit card?
Can I pay off my loan with a 0% credit card?
My credit card won't let me BT my storecard/buy-now-pay-later debt.
I want to buy a car but the seller won't accept a credit card.

May I suggest it could replace the "Egg Card loophole - case study required" sticky?

I say YorkshireBoy, do you know if it it possible to move a balance from Mr. Smith's card to Mrs. Smith's card either directly, via another card, or via a (joint) current account?

Thanks in advance if you do!

Ive been arguing this for some time YB. Whether people read the sticky before posting is sadly another question.

Yes directly provided you dont need to provide the name, which is not normal practice (ie just the name).

Otherwise pursue as YBs advice via your current account.

Ooops! Was my question already answered in there? It didn't look an enticing heading - sorry! :)

Please bear in mind, the person whose card the balance is switched to, becomes soley liable for the debt. If you were to fall out, you couldn't ask the lender to charge your spouse for any remaining balance.

From the lender's perspective, it's not a problem. Customer services may ask you for the name on the account, but this is purely an additional verification check. At the end of the day, the card company is after your business. They're not really interested in knowing who ran up the debt, as long as you, their customer, pay up on time each month!
