  • Because the existing cabling had been there for over 14 years, the broadband doesn't run through the land line with Virgin that why its faster than most others apparently but I'm no engineer!

14 years is not long in terms of cabling to be honest. But fair enough.
  • To be honest I was just wondering if anyone knew of any loopholes were you can leave a contract if you are unhappy with the service without paying the full 12 months fees especially as it hasn't even been a full month yet but I've had pretty good advice from the FB group so I'm sure I'll get it resolved at some point. If not I will take it to CISAS, Thanks
  • Like I said I'm not an engineer, the guy said I needed one, I've no reason not to believe him. Or surely he would have just installed everything on the 31/10?

You won't be able to leave the contract just now. The complaints will get you somewhere and some compensation but in the end they have the right to fix the problems.

You can write them a " Time is of the essence " letter giving them 14 days to correct the problem or you will hold the contract in breach. By doing this you have fulfilled your legal obligation to terminate the contract.

This won't stop them chasing you however as they will likely still hold you in breach, but that's a civil matter and one that would need the courts to decide on, however with the letter it's one that would probably go your way.

I would stick with it, once its sorted and your complaint dealt with, i think you will be happy.

Thank you that's really good advice, if the issues had be rectified straightway and I hadn't been treated so poorly by customer service I wouldn't have a problem with them. Hopefully I will hear back from the email soon otherwise I will write to them. If they do managed to take the £187 I will have it recovered by the bank and request a correct bill with my loss of service deducted before payment. Thanks for your help!
