The spaghetti trick as a way to light candles has been around for years on many different sites - in the UK and in the US. I even have books from the 50s and 60s with this in it.11

Si_Clist said:This whole bottled gas thing is weird nowadays. Apparently if you want to get shut of an empty Calor tank, it's a Big Problem because the dealers won't take them back now unless you take a full one in exchange, and most Council dumps won't take them either. No wonder they've started turning up on the verges in this neck of the woods ...
Do remember to make sure it is completely empty first. Open the valve (outside) and leave open for a few days to evaporate any "dregs."If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing9 -
So ... here we go again, and this time it's called Omicron. 15th letter of the Greek alphabet apparently. Wonder what they'll do when they've named a variant after tall the remaining letters. But whatever, there now seems to be a confirmed case of it in Chelmsford and one in Nottingham.
It's a shame the Great British Public seems to have given up completely with masks. Round here it's only us oldies wearing 'em nowadays ...We're all doomed14 -

What I don't get is that they said it should have been Nu, but that sounds like 'new' so they used Omicron. Why did they miss Xi?11 -

I think governments including ours are panicking a bit as during 'Spanish Flu' first major outbreak hit old and sick as normal flu more than young but then it appears to have mutated a lot and that is when it killed mainly young. So with report out of Africa that Omicron seems to be hitting younger people more, its scaring them. Obviously early days as sadly in some areas a lot of the elderly and sick have already died in first wave so only young left to become sick but as it spreads, as it sadly will, will show if its following similar path and the flu 100 years ago.
Don't stop with the preps.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch
