Eversure/PEX refused to give breakdown assistance

I pay over £100 a year for an unlimited personal breakdown service. With a fleet of old cars I probably call them out once a year. Worth every penny.
Never see the point in skimping on breakdown cover, condoms and bin bags. You just need them to work.0 -
If anybody reads this who is in the know, could you please point me in the right direction.
I did an online search for Breakdown Insurance Ombudsman and found a site called Resolver (I can't post links) which says that it is in association with this website (Money Saving Expert). I get a page which appears to be about Breakdown Insurance but when I put the name of the company in the box asking who the issue is with, (Eversure), I then get a page which is full of questions about Bike Insurance.
I don't think you have much of a leg to stand on to be honest. Your policy excluded this "breakdown" and you probably should have called a garage as soon as the problem occured, or at least when it happened second time. You have a pretty low budget breakdown cover and it didn't apply here.
You would need to complain to Eversure in the first instance but unless you get lucky and find a sympathetic ear, you're not likely to get anywhere since they have fulfilled their obligations.
If you have to drive long distances then get decent, proper cover from the AA or RAC and make sure it meets your needs. The last three times I've called the RAC out, I doubt that your Eversure policy would have covered it. I've also found them to be flexible in other ways. They're not perfect, but I feel reasonably confident that I wouldn't be left in the crap by them.0 -

If I sound cynical, it's the product of listening to too many people complain like fury about talktalk and then refuse to move to a proper ISP.
I'm with the AA btw, have been for 25 years and can't fault the service I've had from them.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

Yep, true. Certain things I buy have to fit certain criteria and price isn't one of them. Breakdown Cover, Boiler cover and Travel Insurance to name a few. Having known a friend who had a bad accident on holiday in South Africa a few years ago, M&S Travel Insurance were absolutely brilliant - taking care of everything including flying family out there to be with her, paying all the medical bills and accommodation and obtaining a decent compensation payout from the operator of the tour on which she was injured - with no fuss or hassle. They are far from the cheapest, but it's worth the extra ... just in case.0 -
you drove that far! You could have easily driven to a garage. Who knows what extra damage may have occurred to your car.
Not very wise and maybe not believable.1 -

Same reason I pay British Gas for my Boiler care, rather than some of the other (cheaper) clowns in the market - when my boiler started leaking, the engineer was there within 40 minutes of logging the call.
Off topic but I based on my experience - your confidence in BG may be misplaced if they think they can 'up sell' you to a new boiler rather than fix your current one..0 -

It has been almost two years since this happened and the investigation by the Financial Ombudsman has just reached a provisional decision. Bastion/Plex have been instructed to pay me £300. The investigation has been almost as stressful as the journey but I don't think I should say more than that.3
