Steel beams and fire regs

As I understand it steel beams need to be protected against fire so it will have 30mins resistance to fire. This is normally done by double plaster boarding

How do you check if there is double boarding in place and compliance with the regs? (I could set in on fire I guess)!!

Doesn't necessarily need to be double boarded, it depends on what boards they have used. There are alternatives to boxing in such as intumescent painting. Not to take it too far away from your questions there are situations where steels don't need fire protecting.
Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!

The reason I’m asking is that the council asked for it to be double boarded to comply with the 30min fire regs. I only just found this out when the council rang me....the builder just said it had all been signed off. Now I can’t remember if it has been double boarded. Builder tells me it’s fine etc etc but I’m not sure I really believe him given he has stopped returning my calls....
