Mouse in electric cupboard

You need to have a plan what to do with any mice you catch.
Letting them go outside will just mean they come back inside again. Letting them go in the 'countryside' may mean they starve to death.
Also, if the 'hole' the cable comes through is in fact the end of a pipe (or 'duct') then filling it with concrete wouldn't be a good idea and may be something you one day bitterly regret. If you want to post a picture of the hole people on the forum might be able to advise. (and if it is a duct then it might not be where the mouse is coming in through anyway)
The trap website said release over 100 metres away but you're right I don't really know where the other end of the hole is and what is in between. I'll put mesh over air bricks in case that is a weak point as well.
If I am brave enough to open the cupboard door tonight, I will post a photo as I really do not want to make the situation worse in any way or maybe I should call somebody out insead of trying to tackle it myself but don't want the mouse murder squad out if I can help it0 -
I though 'humane trap' meant one that kills the critter with a spring-loaded wallop to the back of the neck not one that captures it alive."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

If you are concerned that the hole might be a duct, stuff some newspaper down it, leaving a gap of about 2 inches (50mm) in the top of the hole and fill this with concrete. Mice might eat the paper from underneath, but won't get through 2 inches of concrete. A tap with a cold chisel will brake up the plug if the cable ever needs to come out.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Thank you, that seems like a good idea. I have no idea what a duct is but I have an electrician coming on Monday to do some other stuff so I'll ask him what is there.
Thank you all for your help0
