Reclaiming fees for my son’s old account

Hello. My son had a Lloyds TSB account as a teenager which I believe they unfairly persuaded him to change to a Silver Account with the enticement of mobile phone insurance (which was no good when he attempted to claim). He didn’t have an agreed overdraft but the account allowed him to overdraw and charged him. The debt spiral began and we ended up repaying the whole account to the tune of a couple of grand. I may be able to find the account number but won’t have statements. Any point in trying to reclaim unfairly sold packaged account fees without statements? Help appreciated

You don't need statements to make a complaint about something.
However, you will need mis sale reasons.0 -
He paid for a service and got a service - what's to complain about?0

Your son needs to be the 1 claiming, if he wants to claim that is.0

In my experience, mis-selling claims are usually dismissed if it can be shown that the claimant actually used some of the features they were paying for. You mention the insurance claim was unsuccessful, so that suggests you may have a chance. Getting into unarranged overdraft is a separate issue, and you surely can't blame the bank for your son spending money he didn't have?: )0

No. If he made an insurance claim he thought he was covered - just not what he claimed for. So, he bought insurance and was not miss-sold insurance.
If I bought fire insurance and was not paid out when I claimed for a burglary - was I miss-sold?
Not that the OP is interested any more.0
