HI
Got a letter from Vauxhall saying I need to book my car in for urgent work
Phone the local dealer the same day
They said they were having lots of called and would phone me back
3 days later no call so rang them
He said he had a long list of owners to phone back but could give me a date for 8 weeks time(tried 3 dealers)
That sounds urgent to me
Emailed Vauxhall and they said dealers are independent and have no control over them
Told them my local garage could do it that weel if Vauxhall paid them
They declined
Any comments

Any comments?
Depends on what the recall if for.0 -
Of course Vauxhall won't pay for your local garage to do the work.
And there's a lot of Zafiras out there, so any recall is going to result in a flood of calls and a backlog of bookings.
I presume this is the Zafira B heater fan resistor recall? There was a new one issued at the end of last month, affecting nearly 50,000 cars nationally.

This extends the 2015 recall for the same thing, affecting 235,000 cars. There's been a lot of press coverage, yet 30,000+ cars have not gone in for that. Out of the c.280k cars affected by the recall now, there have been... ~160 fires. About 0.05%, one car in every 2,000. AIUI, the ones most likely to catch fire are those which have had poor quality aftermarket resistors fitted after previous failures.
So... if your car has been on the road this long without going up in flames, what are the chances of it becoming a problem in the time before this precautionary recall is actually carried out?0 -
Hi
You miss the point
Vauxhall express in the recall letter the importance and urgency of the matter but are unwill in do anything to expedite this matter
The tone of the letter put a fear in the owners mind which no one else seems to care about0 -
Is the recall the fault by Adrian it is it something else?
Post a link to a copy of the letter.0 -
