Ipod nano or New Ipod nano

Confused. Looked to buy an ipod nano but there are two types!

This new ipod nano is cheaper

http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Apple-iPod-nano-black/dp/B000OY71OA/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/026-8622965-1665205?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194515390&sr=8-1

than the older ipod nano

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-iPod-nano-8GB-Black/dp/B000HZDE2Y/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/026-8622965-1665205?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194515390&sr=8-2

They are same GB so what is the difference please? Why is the newer one cheaper?

Hope someone can help me please?

I'd not get either of them. Put another £40 to it and get the iPod Classic. It's 80GB, a better screen and IMO, far more value for money.

It is often the case tht new iPods are cheaper than older ones! Apple want people to "upgrade". Other than the styling it looks like it does much the same as the old one. I am not sure the old one could play movies/tv shows so that is probably a new feature! Ultimately go for the one you like the look of!! I am not sure many people really watch a movie on their ipod ;)

I would love to get that one Conor but my budet is stretched already - unless of course I win the lottery! What a dream....

I prefer the look of the older one, but if the new one is better than i would rather get that - it just a big price difference for no difference between them.

Technically the 2nd Gen is not as good as the 3rd Gen from what i have read, which isn't surprising really. Have a look at these threads

A review of 2nd Gen nano

A review of 3rd Gen nano

That should help you make a decision :)

    post back if not !

The new 3rd generation ones have a few new features, such as cover flow to browse your albums by flicking through the covers (very slick), you can install more games, they can support movies (but it's a very small screen to watch films on 320x240 pixels) so it's not a feature I would use, the display is brighter than the older 2nd generation version.

Have a look at them both in a shop if you can. I still prefer the 2nd gen one, as it fits my hand better, and I love the design, it's so tiny. The new one is thinner, but a bit more chubby.

I don't need my entire collection with me all the time, 4Gb is fine for the car, holidays etc, so I prefer the nano's to the larger ones, but everyone has a different requirement.

I'd say the older version is a bargain now it's been reduced, it's a gorgeously designed item. The new one is lovely too, it's just different!

The current iPod Nano spec and infomation is at: http://www.apple.com/uk/ipodnano/

PS the cheapest I can find it on-line is from Rank Hour (never heard of them and never used them, cheapest delivery option £5.99) it is £89.99 (£95.98 inc 3 day delivery) the link is:

(Found through www.froogle.co.uk - google's price comparison tool)

Personally for a couple of quid I'd go for Amazon or John Lewis (store or website)

I buoght a DAB radio from there, arrived all wet and soggy, so box was ruined. And as it was a bday prezzie i wasn't impressed. Attitude t o guy i spoke with about replacing it was horrific and his supervisor was not much better. I had to chase and demand to get it replaced. I won't go back there. Certianly not to save £4 like in this case!! Get it from Amazon!
