virgin Media Cancellation Charges

Options
I am moving house and VM do not cover the new property. I currently have 6 months left on my contact and due to no fault of my own cannot carry over my services and therefore they are saying that I have to terminate my contact early and the charge for this is £135. I feel this is a unjust amount of money and considering I've been with VM for a very long time I think it's rather cheeky.

Has anyone ever got these charges removed? If so how?

Its not VMs fault you choose to move when in a valid contract . Contract is at the address not any address .

    See multiple identical posts .
Personally its cheeky of you to break a valid lawfull contract .

OP, it's considered spam to post the same item on multiple threads!

Sorry to be harsh, but who else is to blame for you moving to an area that virgin dont cover? you chose the new house not virgin media.

Early Termination of Contract (ETC) fees are very rarely "waived".

Why do you think yours should be?

Your termination charge should be no more you would have paid had you stayed. Firstly you should not pay the VAT on the remaining payments so it should be your usual monthly payment -17.6%, this is because they are no longer giving you a service, so they can't charge VAT on a service that won't exist. They should then reduce it some more because they are not providing the service and no customer service.

Looks like the termination amounts are basically the VAT removed and a couple of extra percent, pretty much the maximum they can get away with without getting in to trouble with OFCOM again, they have already been fined for ripping off customers for this very thing..

Your link only applies to Minimum Terms which commenced after October 2018. Since the OP of this thread was posting in November 2018, it's reasonable to assume that his contract began well before October of that year. The thread bumper "Aaron320" gave no details, but may well also have a contract older than three months...
