Can I ask for Neighbour's Dogs to be Kept on a Lead

Hi, We live next to a farmer's field where one woman walks her dogs off the lead. Her dogs keep getting into our garden, and I am scared they might do something to our dogs. One is a Jack Russell, which is a breed I don't trust entirely as one had its jaws around my dog's neck once when walking in the park. The other dog is a Spaniel, who, according to the owner attacked another dog once! Would I be unreasonable to suggest the owner keeps her dogs on a lead in the field, or do I have no right, since the field isn't mine? It seems the owner has been walking here for years before we moved in, so we are reluctant to be the annoying new-comers...

I assume that she has the farmer's permission to do this, so you are limited to asking her to keep her dogs out of your garden.
Could you strengthen your fence so her dogs can't get in - or yours get out?0 -
Yes, I believe she eventually asked permission from the farmer after a few years of walking there. It's a big boundary to have to secure but I guess this is really the only option!0

The Dangerous Dogs Act was amended to include private property. It may prove difficult to enforce, but I would have a word with your local dog warden and perhaps your local police station (if you have one) about it, if you can't speak to the neighbour directly.0

Definitely secure your own land if you are worried for your dog's safety.0
