Hey,
3 years ago I inherited some shares which are being held with equinti shareview.
I’ve left them there as there were other more pressing things to tackle - but now I’m at the point where I’m wondering what exactly is the best way to treat them (small amount under 5k)
Should I cash them in? Move it to a Stocks and Shares ISA?
I’m a complete newbie when it comes to this - so points in the right direction/any advice would be hugely appreciated
My apologies if there is already another post on this topic - feel free to point me there/blend this post if needed
Thank you

Do you wish to remain invested in the stock market?
If you are looking to the long term, you might sell the shares and use the cash to start a stocks and shares ISA and continue to contribute?
This might suit as a starter

The usual question to ask yourself in these circumstances is: if you had the cash, would you buy these specific shares?
Chances are the answer is no, so if you're keen to invest rather than save (i.e. if you have enough cash savings already) then sell and invest in a collective product (for easy diversification), such as a global multi-asset fund, within a S&S ISA.

Shares in individual companies are high risk and so unless you can afford to have moderate holdings in say 15-20 of them I suggest you use funds instead. In that case it is probably easiest for you to simply sell the shares and close the Shareview account.
You can then look into long term investing, and once you understand what is involved set up an S&S ISA. Do you have a cash emergency fund of say 6 months living expenses? If not the £4K could form a good basis.0
