I have a solicitors cheque to pay into my bank account and need to access the funds pretty quickly. I have been told that solicitors cheques clear immediately - does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks

Nope.
The best thing for you to do is find out your bank's cheque clearing cycle and aim to put the cheque in the bank asap.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

No - unless it happens to be drawn on your Bank and Branch - it clears according to the normal 3 (working) day Clearing cycle. And you can't short circuit that.
If the Solicitor is working for you - you could ask they CHAPS the funds, and they'll charge you £30 (ish) for the priviledgeIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
