Poor credit rating after approved mortgage break

Hi. Last year we had to take an agreed break on our mortgage after sadly my mother in law died and my husband struggled to cope and was signed off work. He wasn't getting paid enough to cover bills so instead of just not paying it we contacted Lloyds and they where very helpful and agreed to help and we had a 6 month break which some months we paid some of it just not the full amount.
We then started paying it in full and over a few months paid what we owed back.
. We asked if this would affect our credit rating and they said no , once it was paid back our credit rating would be clear. So last week we tried to change our mortgage to a different company and we failed a credit rating on poor payment of mortgage.
We have complained to Lloyds who have said tough we not changing it and it will be on there for 6 years .
They have given us three number to ring to try and get it taken off ourselves.
Is there anything else we can do as we are fuming as you can imagine.

Thanks Sarah

To which credit rating were Lloyds referring to when you asked them?

What exactly have Lloyds reported to your credit files?

To be fair to both Lloyds and the new lender you do have a poor history of paying your mortgage as per original T&C. I understand that your husband struggled to cope after the death of his mother but really you should have an emergency fund and/or income protection insurance to cover you for life's eventualities instead of relying on mortgage holidays.
  • This has been discussed before.

Payment breaks are marked as such on credit files so other lenders will see this.

It's in the T's and C's for the mortgage
