You'd lose the mortgage application fee, survey fee, and possibly solicitor fee (depending on what type of deal you have). If that adds up to more than a couple of weeks rent, surely it's not worth pulling out over?
By the way, I would have kicked up a stink about the carpets. The carpets were included on the F&F form and have now been removed. This IS is a significant issue and your seller needs to understand that what's on the F&F form is binding! What has your solicitor said about it? I'd be asking for a reduction in price or for the seller to put carpets down. You might not get anywhere - they can just refuse and then your options are to accept the variation or pull out. But my concern would be them deciding they can also ignore everything else they said on the F&F.0 -

This is all part of the normal process of buying a house I'm afraid.
A bit of overlap between leaving rented property and other minor issues are par for the course.
You just have to accept it and not let it stress you.
Arguing to get some compensation over things like damaged skirting boards is unlikely to be successful and will cause additional stress, its not worth it.0 -
